About: Jason Benjamin
- - Web Developer
- - Graphic Designer
- - Photographer
My interest in web design began when I created my first website in 2001. I was constantly updating and managing it, and eventually I started learning more about web accessibility and web standards. Since I was making such frequent changes, the goal of making a well architectured and user friendly website pushed my learning further.
A few years later I started doing freelance web design work for small businesses in the Boston area. This is when I expanded my services to cover not only the web, but graphic design and photography. For those that are interested, I currently use a Canon Digital Rebel T1i for all my photography, with my primary lens being a Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L.
I recently competed with a teammate in the 2008 SkillsUSA Massachusetts competition for web design. We finished in 1st place out of 12 other teams and moved on to the national competition held in Kansas City, Missouri. The websites we created for both the state and national competition are on the web portfolio page.
From July 2008 to August 2009 I was employed by Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a Web Developer in their University Operations Services department. During the year I was employed my main responsibilities included: managing the content of the department website, prototyping new content management systems, and photographing various Harvard events and people.
As of September 2009 I am currently attending Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Massachusetts as a major in Graphic Design. Although I study full time, I still actively take on any freelance projects I receive.
